Grey's Anatomy Complete Third Season DVD Review

I became interested in this show because I just happened to catch the "code black" episodes and the finale of season two. I didn't become a fan until after watching both the first and second seasons on dvd and by then, the show was about a month or so into the third season. I watched faithfully almost every week (even the repeats), but this season was much different from the last two.

Part of the reason that I loved Grey's Anatomy so much was that it was able to make me laugh, cry, and think, especially about the relationships in my own life. Unfortunately there isn't a lot to laugh about in season three. I don't recall any particularly inspiring moments either. The show has become a soap opera. A very well written and acted out soap, but it is what it is. In addition to that, the fact that some of our most beloved characters either won't be (or appear to not be) returning, and the whole Isaiah Washington business that no one would just let blow over have soured me towards the show even more.

I'm sure there will be a lot of new faces next season, but I haven't yet decided if I'll continue to be one of the faithful.

Wild Hogs Movie Review

Meet Woody Stevens(John Travolta),a middle-aged man who finds his finds his life constantly falling apart. Something that is hard for any person--especially a middle-aged man.

So,wanting a bright light to shine in his life,Woody Stevens makes a last minute decision. That last minute decision? To go on a cross country road trip with his three closest friends(Tim Allen's character of Doug Madsen,Martin Lawrence's character of Bobby Davis,and William H. Macy's character of Dudley Frank)who don't have the greatest lives at the present moment,either. There will be no rules--just fun,exploration,and adventures.

However,in the middle of the trip,faulty trouble arises. Once Woody Stevens,Doug Madsen,Bobby Davis,and Dudley Frank arive at a motorcycle bar out in New Mexico(out in the middle of nowhere,I might add),it turns out that they are at a bar full of a motorcycle gang,the Del Fuegos. The leader,Jack(Ray Liotta)does not like the Wild Hogs,while he is not afraid to show it. At the same time,Woody Stevens went on a roadtrip for fun,not for trouble or rudeness.

The result? Trouble that Woody Stevens,Doug Madsen,Bobby Davis,and Dudley Frank are going to have to lightly get themselves out of,and an inequitable "test" upon them,as well.

The script for "Wild Hogs" successfully brings the film's plot to life. Everything appropriately leads to one thing after another. The humor in "Wild Hogs" is well-written and enjoyable,bringing viewers good laughs along the way that one would expect out of any comedy film. There is,at the same time,an appropriate amount of fun. Drama is successfully worked in the script for "Wild Hogs",while the "edge" that the film requires allows itself to be successfully executed,at the same time. All of this in "Wild Hogs" is well accompanied by the famous cast(Travolta,Allen,Lawrence,Macy,Liotta,and Marisa Tomei),as well as their performances at the same time. "Wild Hogs" gives John Travolta,Tim Allen,William H. Macy,Martin Lawrence,Ray Liotta,and Marisa Tomei fair and wortwhile time in the spotlight,while all six of them work together successfully and respectfully. Having dramatic actors work alongside comedic actors in one film isn't the easiest thing to do,but in "Wild Hogs",it successfully happens. All of this allows "Wild Hogs" to fully come together,and be the good and successful film that it is.

If you were one of several people that saw "Wild Hogs" upon its release and were impressed,this DVD will leave you happy. The bonus feautures on this DVD ("Bikes,Brawls,and Burning Bars:The Making of "Wild Hogs"","How To Get Your WIfe To Let You Buy a Motorcycle",the freewheeling alternate ending for "Wild Hogs",deleted scenes,top-notch outtakes,and an audio commentary with the director and writer of "Wild Hogs",Walt Becker and Brad Copeland),are insightful. If you want to know more about the making of "Wild Hogs",the special feautres on this DVD will successfully do just that for you.

Overall,if you like comedy,turn to "Wild Hogs". You will be pleased with the comedy in "Wild Hogs",as well as the film itself and the elements that make it memorable,fun,and of course,funny.

NASCAR 08 EA Sports Review

Yes, Nascar 08 looks very similar to 07 (has motion blur effect,etc.), and they took away lots of stuff (like the various Dodge Challenge scenarios), but this game has added a lot, as well.

This is the first time I didn't have to use any driving Assists (except when I used the Limited assist, for starts and restarts ONLY with the Nextel Cup cars) to keep up with the Cpu cars, and also still have fun racing against them. It's simply one of the easiest to drive, racing games I've ever played. Perhaps TOO easy, for any of you that did well driving without any assists, in the older Nascar games.

Although, the Mid-Race saves work very well, they are NOT perfect saves. They are NOT good at accurately saving some stats, like #laps lead, best laps, and when drivers are knocked out of race, they are back in (when you reload the save), just a few laps down etc. No big deal, but if you want all your race stats saved accurately, don't use the mid-race saves.

In addition, the 2 player split-screen mode (not available in PS3 version), lets you race against 17 cpu cars (so, there are a total of 19 cars on track), but if you don't use the Legend difficulty, they let player #1 catch up too easily. There's no rearview mirror for this mode, but you can look back with the right stick.

Tired of always waiting for your spotter to tell you if you're in the clear? Well, now you can use the Right joystick to look to your left or right or even behind you to see for yourself. It can be a little disorienting at first, but it's so handy!

Another great thing in 08, is the ticker at the top that shows the race positions of the drivers (lap times, etc.). If you have trouble reading it while racing, you can shut it off or just pause the game, and it will still keep scrolling. You can even move it left or right (while in pause only) with the d-pad or left stick.

The new 08 feature, that lets you instantly rewind up to 8 seconds (good driving earns the time) within a current race (just press select button, when symbol appears), so that you can avoid a crash etc., sounds good in theory, but in practice, it usually doesn't help much. Simply, you often are only given 3 or 4 seconds instant rewind time, which usually isn't enough time to avoid anything.

However, it has helped me out on occasion (if I have 6-8 seconds available), but if you use it, the game won't count your accomplishments towards getting Medallions (192 of them) that help you unlock chase plates (53-no paint schemes),etc. So, at the beginning, at least, I think it's best to just use the mid-race save from time to time, and then if you crash, you can just quit and then reload (oh, the joys of cheating).

The Bourne Identity HD DVD Review

Bournce Identity is a terrifc movie for a weekend and while much fuss was made over particular omissions from Ludlum's great spy novel, the overall feel of the world he created remains. If every element from Ludlum's novel were left in this would be a five hour movie. The book was that complex and jam-packed.

Director Doug Liman has retained the basic feel of the book and left the heart of the story in tact. He didn't try to glamourize the grittier aspects simply because he had a big budget with which to work. There is almost a low-key atmosphere which somehow makes all the action seem more real to the viewer. We see Paris and all the other countries only as background to the dark storyline we hope can have some kind of happy resolution as the film goes along.

Franke Potente is perfect as a girl who has no real roots herself, and what begins as a business proposition escalates into love, even if it must be a life on the run with Jason Bourne (Matt Damon). Damon proves he can really act in this film and does a great job as Bourne, a guy who has no idea who he is but has all the instincts of someone not quite part of everyday society.

A Swiss bank account and a dozen passports, along with a large sum of cash and a weapon, tells him something about what kind of life he has led, if not who he is exactly. He ponders the mystery in a Paris cafe with Marie (Potente) while instinctively making note of all the liscence plates of the vehicles parked outside. Why he does so, he doesn't know.

The romance that blossoms between Bourne and Marie becomes one more reason Bourne must find the answers to his identity as international assasins come after them at every turn. There is a moment in the film when he tries to make her leave him for safety because he loves her, and it is for that same reason she stays.

This is a gritty movie with a heart. The action sequences as Bourne's instincts kick in are terrific and the human elements are not lost along the way, which is a credit to Director Liman and the two stars, especially Damon, who separtated himself from a big pack and proved he had talent here.

We are left with a good feeling at the end of this film as both the action and romance are given their moments. I read this many years ago so perhaps the fact it was not fresh in my mind helped me enjoy it more. Taken simply as a really enjoyable film for a weekend, it's A+ entertainment.

Tiger Woods Ties Two Records at PGA Championship

Tiger Woods dominates and leads going into Sunday of the 07 PGA Championship at Southern Hills. This will be Tiger Woods' first major of the 2007 season if he wins.

Yesterday, on the second round Tiger Woods lips out his final put to finish with a 63. This ties the lowest round ever in a major. Tiger Woods' lip out is very similar to Nick Price's lip out to shoot a 62 in another major.

The second record is lowest round after shooting a 63 in a major. The record held by a few guys is a 69 after shooting a 63. Tiger Woods has a right to left put to shoot a 68 that looks like it is going in until it rolls over the edge. Tiger shoots a 69 and ties another record.

Robbers found in NBA Antoine Walker Case

The cops have found and arrested four men in connection with the pro basketball player Antoine Walker robbery. The four men are held in jail without bond. The four men’s names are Antoine Larkins, Demorris Hill, Phillip Allison, and Gregory Reedfields.

Earlier robber of New York Knicks player Eddy Curry has also been linked to Hill and Larkins. Robbery of NBA star Eddy Curry occurred last month in suburban Chicago.

The four men are charged with home invasion, armer robbery, and aggravated kidnapping in the Walker Case.

Sam Adams, an legal representation for Reedfields, said his client is innocent and "police did not get the right guy."

The four robbers were scheduled to appear in bond court Monday on those charges.

The robbery occurred on July 9 when the four men eligibly bound with duct tape and held Walker at gun point. The robbers took Walker’s Mercedes with cash and jewelry.

Police detectives used cell phone records and finger prints to find the culprits.
